Stolen (without shame) from an issue of “SIU Perspectives,” the publication of the South Florida Chapter of IASIU.
This excerpt is from a Tampa newspaper story:
The Coroner was on the witness stand being questioned by an attorney about his examination of the body.
Attorney: So, you did the examination of Mr. Smith?
Coroner: Yes.
Attorney: Did you check for a pulse?
Coroner: No
Attorney: Did you check to see if Mr. Smith was breathing?
Coroner: No.
Attorney: Did you listen to his chest for a heartbeat?
Coroner: No.
Attorney: So, you did not check in any way to see if Mr. Smith was still alive?
Coroner; No.
Attorney: Why didn’t you!!!?
Coroner: Well, the fact that his brain was sitting in a jar on my desk suggested to me there was no reason to check for vital signs, but I guess he could have been out somewhere studying to be an attorney!
