One of the world’s leading authorities on Latin American debt, Gerald Finneran, was flying from Buenos Aires to New York on a United Airlines flight. When the plane landed at JFK, Finneran was promptly arrested.
Crew members and passengers told a harrowing tale. Finneran, upon being refused additional alcoholic libations, became angry. It was reported that he assaulted the flight attendants, went to the bathroom on a serving cart and used the first class table linens for a purpose they were never intended for. The odor reminiscent of his deed remained for the four hours left of the flight, but the airplane could not make any unscheduled stops because flights carrying heads of state can not be diverted – and one of Finneran’s seat neighbors was the President of Portugal.
Hoo boy… maybe the stress of all those financial dealings just caught up with him.
