Tampa police are searching for a pair of identity-stealing crooks who have been on quite a shopping spree lately. Their MO is to go into a department store and open instant credit accounts in the names of their victims. They then purchase several large-ticket items — TV’s, electronic equipment, house-wares and expensive clothing — and load it into a rental truck. At least $20,000 of unauthorized purchases have been linked to the two, described as having neat haircuts, dress shirts, ties and business-like, clean-cut appearances. Apparently they have little fear because one of their four known victims is a Hillsborough sheriff’s deputy.
