Allen Leslie Brinkley of West Palm Beach told an undercover Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) agent that he (Brinkley) had been in the marketing business for 10 to 15 years. He also guaranteed that those willing to invest between $50 and $250 in Cash Train Express or Travel Products of America would realize large profits.
As a side requirement, however, investors must convince two additional people to follow suit … and each of those two people must convince two more people … and so on and so forth. All in all, there were nine levels to Brinkley’s plan and if FDLE had not stepped in, more than ten million people could have conceivably become involved.
As is the usual course of such plans, the only one to profit was Brinkley. After persuading 1,126 people from Canada and the US to sink their money into his plans, Brinkley pocketed $105,500.
He’s been charged with one count of organized scheme to defraud.
