Combining a PC and a video camera, video conferencing will give the insurance adjuster – and the claimant – real-time, face-to-face access to one another.  Imagine this:  ABC Insurance Company adjuster Bob Smith hires the Ding-Dong Investigation Agency to go out and take a recorded statement from a claimant, Alvin Crook.  Ding-Dong sends its representative, Ava Lady, along with some standard equipment.  Using video conferencing, Ava and Alvin are able to include Bob in the real-time statement-taking process.

The technology is available now.  Expect it to be in common use by the turn of the century.
