How about this: 90210 resident Ari Darwich, 31 years old, is/was an arson ring leader charged with scamming insurers out of an estimated five million dollaroos, The result was conviction on 33 charges (wire fraud, mail fraud, arson and money laundering) and a sentence of 137 years behind bars.
The actual numbers equation will get further complicated when we add in eight additional codefendants ( Fatima Toufaili, Ashak Ashaq, Mazen Mazzaani, Ali Alaouie, Benjamin Youhanna, Fayez Debouk, Rabhi Ali and Jan Alawie) , the sum total of their zip codes (confession: we did not even figure it out), the sum total of their sentences (ditto), then divide it by seven insurance companies involved, and it amounts to the Advanced Mathematics 204 Final Exam question from hell.
All eight codefendents hailed from the Detroit area and the group left a financial paper trail for IRS investigators to follow. Once the paper work was done, the US Attorney’s Office did the rest.
