SEVEN PICTURES ARE WORTH A THOUSAND LIES
Bryan Gilbert Robb’s smartphone was smarter than he was. After reporting a burglary at his Spokane home, he changed the $800 he told the police he lost to a rather astounding $26,569 reported to his insurer. To support his claim, he supplied multiple pictures of the computers, games and DVD’s that he allegedly lost. He obviously was unaware that there were embedded metatags in the photos and they very clearly revealed the pictures were taken after the burglary. The Assurant adjuster not only caught the evidence of the dates, but also dug back in Robb’s claims history and found that many of the same items were stolen in a 2004 claim at his previous address. Technology had changed in the intervening years — but Robb apparently hadn’t. He’s facing insurance fraud charges. We predict a slam dunk conviction.
