Late last year, four San Mateo Sheriff’s Deputies met with area SIU representatives and threw four names out in front of them. Each of the SIU reps recognized the names as auto claimants. The same four people had hit each of three companies with the same kinds of accidents, and there was always a damaged red truck. Each company had been asked to pay for identical damages.
When deputies visited the auto body shop that allegedly repaired the truck, they discovered it was owned by one of those individuals involved in the accidents. And while there were lots of parts and junked automobiles, there was no real auto repair equipment to be found.
When deputies visited the claimants’ homes, they found more than two pounds of methamphetamine, along with additional chemicals and special equipment to manufacture more of the drug.
Four people were arrested in connection with the scam. Raul Enriquez and his wife, Marijulia Enriquez; Jose Ceja and RobertoMori. Mori was in possession of four different California driver’s licenses, all issued in different names.
Each has been charged in connection with filing false claims, grand theft, possessing methamphetamine for sale and credit card fraud, involving $50,000 in fraudulent charges.
