The crime-victim turned crime-fighter, who hails from Olathe, decided to take matters into his own hands when a thief broke into his car and stole checks, cash and credit cards. The sleuth first began visiting the places where forged checks were passed and asking what each specific purchase involved. Finding the thief had a penchant for purchasing car parts for a 1988 Mercury Cougar, our hero began watching the classified ads for a car for sale. One ad caught his attention: “1988 Mercury Cougar with many new parts.” He telephoned the local Olathe police, who were able to get a search warrant. Sure enough, crook caught. Not bad, Sherlock!
