The preceding is a picture of my brain as I write this issue’s Editor column. This column is always the last thing to be spit out of my word processor, often being added as the messenger is carrying the rest of the issue out the door and heading to the printer.

While I have often thrived on pressure and have effortlessly managed to do six things at once, I fear that age is finally catching up to me. Alikim Media is publishing both The John Cooke Insurance Fraud Report and The John Cooke Financial Fraud Report, putting together a business plan for a projected third publication – and – coming up quickly upon our first Alikim seminar, “Cultural Relativity … Our Duty to Understand,” being held March 19-20 at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel.

I have decided that a nervous breakdown is in order, however it will have to wait until after the seminar is over. At precisely 5 PM on March 20, I fully plan to assume the fetal position and emit a series of primal screams. Unfortunately, such release cannot continue very long. Duty calls again on March 21 – 7:15 AM – when I depart via air for Lagos, Nigeria, to cover yet another conference and write yet another series of articles.

Fraud is a dragon; giant, dangerous, fire-breathing and lethal to all but the most valiant and educated of soldiers. Before I depart toward what promises to be my most dangerous and foreign destination yet, I’d like to offer a heartfelt “thank you” to all of you out there for sharing your knowledge, your support and your weaponry with me.
