The owner of Texas Durable Medical Equipment Company, Hugh Willet of Fort Worth, was been found guilty of six counts of health care fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud. Willet’s wife Jean, who previously pleaded guilty to the same changes, is already in prison serving a 50 month sentence. Hubby is facing a maximum potential penalty of ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each count. Trial evidence showed that the Willet’s companies, JS&H Orthopedic Supply LLC and Texas Orthotic and Prosthetic Systems Inc., intentionally submitted claims to Medicare and other insurers for products that were materially different from and more expensive than what was actually provided, Oops.
