Southern California has a new system to allow drivers to whiz past all the traffic and get where they are going much faster by using the “fast track” lanes. It’s. called a toll-road transponder and employs the newest technology.
Leave it to a crook to figure out how to make a toll-road transponder purchase $200 worth of McDonald’s food. The unit works just like a credit card at the four participating area McDonald’s where the victim lived. The McThief stole the unit and started filling up. And filling up. And filling up. When the Rancho Santa Margarita, California, victim got his bill, he hit the McRoof and notified the company of the missing unit. And, just like some credit cards, he is only liable for the first $50 in charges and the $30 cost of the transponder.
