Jason Dross of Celina, Ohio, was sentenced to nine months behind bars by the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas after an investigation by the Bureau of WC’s Special Investigations Department disproved his ongoing claim that he could not lift more than ten pounds and was thus qualified to receive non-working wage loss, a coverage for those who cannot find suitable employment within their physical restrictions.
Investigators, working from a tip, got 30 days worth of video evidence to the contrary by filming Dross while he worked out at the Celina YMCA. Not only could he lift ten pounds, but he was able to bench-press FIFTY TIMES THAT AMOUNT on the same days that he gave contrary information to his physicians and the BWC. In addition to the (suspended if he behaves) jail sentence, he’s been ordered to repay $31,736.98 in benefits received. Bench press THAT, Mr. Claimant!
