In a survey of 169 medical doctors (Archives of Internal Medicine), 73 percent said they would lie to get treatment for a patient who would otherwise not be covered by insurance.
56 percent of those surveyed said they would lie to get authorization for coronary bypass surgery.
56 percent would lie to get treatment of a blood clot in the leg.
35 percent would lie to get coverage for a mammogram.
32 percent would lie for a psychiatric referral.
And when you question a physician about why these numbers are so high …?
